What Can Clone DVD Do - Reasonable Expectations?

Clone DVD copies the main movie, special features and/or the original menu onto DVD recordable media or your hard-disk. It can copy both the large format DVD-5 and DVD-9 movies.

It has an "Idiot-Proof" interface which makes it very easy to use.

When copying protected DVDs you will need AnyDVD, which costs $41.00

Test Platform

We downloaded, installed, and tested Clone DVD (Slysoft)  to run on two test computers. One computer was "Home-Brewed" with an Athlon AMD 64 X2 4800 Dual-Core processor running at 2.4GHz, 1GB of memory, 100GB hard drive, and a Sony DRU-510A DVD/RW drive 32X (CD) and 12X (DVD). The other computer, a Gateway E06500D, with an Intel Pentium(R) running at 3GHz, 1GB of memory, 100GB hard drive, and a Plextor PX-708A DVD/RW drive (40X (CD) and 12X (DVD).

Test Results

The installation was flawless on both test computers. The original DVD movie was "The Sum of All Fears" (2003) starring Ben Affleck and Morgan Freeman. The movie runtime was 123 minutes.  Upon inserting the original DVD movie and pressing the "Start" button, 18 minutes lapsed until we were prompted to insert blank DVD media. The DVD movie burning process was less than 9 minutes. We then inserted the copied DVD movie in our DVD player and the copy quality was that of the original to include all of the extras and menus options we selected. The same process was perform on our second test computer and it took 19 minutes to copy the movie and  approximately 11 minutes to burn the movie to DVD.

We clicked in the Clone DVD (Slysoft) option on the control panel and then navigated to the location of the DVD/Video_TS directory on the DVD.

Clicking on the Next button caused Clone DVD (Slysoft) to scan the DVD. This displayed audio and subtitle options. We kept the default settings.

Clicking the Next button again presented us with the Output method. We kept the default setting "DVD Writer" since we are copying and burning to a blank DVD.

Clicking on the Go button initiated the DVD scan and transcoding process.

18 minutes later, Clone DVD (Slysoft) prompted us to insert a blank DVD.

Clicking on the Write button initiated the DVD burning process.

Nine (9) minutes later Clone DVD (Slysoft) finished burning the DVD.

We then ejected and inserted the copied DVD in our DVD player and we were impressed. An excellent and exact copy.
 

Clone DVD (Slysoft)  from start to finish produced a high-quality DVD in 27 minutes.

Results

Pros We really like Clone DVD (Slysoft) for it's simplicity. The Graphical User Interface is well laid out and does not leave one guessing. Fast DVD Copy to Burning speed. Impressive.   Cons None really. An enhanced feature set would take this application to the next level.   Quality of Copy The final copy was an exact replica of the original. No complaints here.   Customer/Technical Support We emailed Clone DVD (Slysoft) during normal working hours just to see how quickly they would respond. Within an hour, a response was received.
