What Can DVD Cloner 7
Do - Reasonable Expectations?
DVD Cloner 7 can make an exact copy of a DVD movie. It can
copy DVD-5 movies to blank DVD-5, copy Dual Layered DVD-9 movies to
blank DVD-9 discs.
It can copy a smaller capacity DVD-5
movie disc to a larger capacity Dual Layered DVD-9 DVD disc. It can
squeeze two DVD movies (DVD-5 or DVD-9) onto one blank DVD disc.
It can take a large capacity Dual layered
DVD-9 7.9GB movie and split it out so that it will fit on two 4.7GB
DVD-5 DVD discs. The result will be an exact copy of the original
DVD movie but appearing on two DVD-5 discs (Part 1 and Pat 2, for
example).
DVD Cloner 7 can copy just the Movie
Only, excluding from the copy the extras appearing on most DVD
movies.
It is important to understand that when
making copies of a DVD movie, the more extraneous and un-needed
items on the original DVD that you can exclude from the copy, the
better the copy will be. Why? Because there is less to compress or
squeeze on the copied DVD. Compression is not an issue if you are
copying onto the large DVD-9 blank discs.
With a third pary Blu-ray/HD DVD Copy
helper, you can copy Blu-ray movies to blank DVDs or
AVCHD DVD-R/RW or DVD-R/RW discs. When
you first begin copying Blu-ray movies, you will be prompted to
download the third party software at no extra cost.
Test Platform
DVD Cloner 7 is brand new for 2010. We downloaded, installed, and tested
DVD Cloner
7 to run on two
test computers. One computer was "Home-Brewed" with an Athlon AMD 64
X2 4800 Dual-Core processor running at 2.4GHz, 1GB of memory, 100GB
hard drive, and a Sony DRU-510A DVD/RW drive 32X (CD) and 12X (DVD).
The other computer, a Gateway E06500D, with an Intel Pentium(R)
running at 3GHz, 1GB of memory, 100GB hard drive, and a Plextor
PX-708A DVD/RW drive (40X (CD) and 12X (DVD).
Installation & Test Results
The installation was flawless on both
test computers. The original DVD movie was "The Count of Monte
Cristo"
starring Jim Caviezel and Guy Pearce. The
movie runtime was 131 minutes. Upon inserting the original DVD
movie and pressing the "Start" button, 20 minutes lapsed until
we were prompted to insert blank DVD media. The DVD movie burning
process was less than 14 minutes. We then inserted the copied DVD
movie in our DVD player and the copy quality was that of the original
to include all of the extras and menus options we selected. The same
process was perform on our second test computer and it took 21 minutes
to copy the movie and approximately 16 minutes to
burn the movie to DVD.
