  Company: DVD Wizard Pro
Version: 5.75

Test Platform

We downloaded, installed, and tested DVD Wizard Pro  to run on two test computers. One computer was "Home-Brewed" with an Athlon AMD 64 X2 4800 Dual-Core processor running at 2.4GHz, 1GB of memory, 100GB hard drive, and a Sony DRU-510A DVD/RW drive 32X (CD) and 12X (DVD). The other computer, a Gateway E06500D, with an Intel Pentium(R) running at 3GHz, 1GB of memory, 100GB hard drive, and a Plextor PX-708A DVD/RW drive (40X (CD) and 12X (DVD).

Test Results

The installation was flawless on both test computers. The original DVD movie was "Firewall" (2006) starring Harrison Ford. The movie runtime was 105 minutes.  Upon inserting the original DVD movie and pressing the "Start" button, 59 minutes lapsed until we were prompted to insert blank DVD media. The DVD movie burning process was less than 10 minutes. We then inserted the copied DVD movie in our DVD player and the copy quality was that of the original to include all of the extras and menus options we selected. The same process was perform on our second test computer and it took 59 minutes to copy the movie and  approximately 9 minutes to burn the movie to DVD.

We inserted our DVD movie and then launched DVD Wizard Pro. We found the control panel simple and well laid out. We selected our Source Device and clicked on the button.

We then clicked on the button to navigate to the location of our inserted DVD.

Navigating to the Location of the DVD Movie

We double-clicked the DVD Drive letter and located the VIDEO_TS directory

Next, we located and selected the IFO file.

Selecting the VTS_01_0 IFO File

After clicking the Open button, DVD Wizard Pro  presented a dialog box allowing us to select Video options. In the upper left we highlighted the [00] Length:01:44:43. This is the actual movie because it has the longest length. We were able to see options that allowed us to select language and subtitle options. We kept the default settings.

After clicking OK, DVD Wizard Pro  began copy and transcoding the DVD.

After approximately 59 minutes DVD Wizard Pro  prompted us to insert a Blank DVD.

Pros

DVD Wizard Pro was easy to use and included a built-in tutorial. Copies games (XBOX, PS2, PSX), can create Video CDs from DVDs and can create DivX files from DVDs. All making it a versatile piece of software.

Cons

The DVD copy and burning processes were pronouncedly much slower than its competitors. Could improve on technical and customer support.

Quality of Copy

The final copy was a "near-dvd" replica.

Customer/Technical Support

We emailed DVD Wizard Pro during normal working hours just to see how quickly they would respond. Within an hour, a response was received. Their website offers only email support.

Reviewer's Summary

DVD Wizard Pro  has been around for many years and contently improving. It is no longer an ebook tutorial, but now actual software. While it was the slowest of all of the 10 DVD movie copy software packages tested and reviewed, it was able to handle the newer copy-protected DVDs. What sets DVD Wizard Pro apart from the other DVD copy products is its ability to copy games (XBOX, PS2, PSX). It can also convert DVDs to Video CD (VCD). The software was easy to use. If you are looking for a product that can copy DVD movies and games, then we recommend DVD Wizard Pro. If you are looking for a DVD movie copy only package (does not copy games), we recommend and 1Click DVD Copy 5 or 1Click DVD Copy Pro since these are newer, faster, stable, produces higher quality copies, and offers the new cprx technology.
